कभी ऐ हकीकत-ए-मुन्तज़र नज़र आ लिबास-ए-मजाज़ में 

की  हज़ारों सजदे तड़प रहे हैं तेरी ज़बीं-ए-नियाज़ में
[हकीकत-ए-मुन्तज़र = The Awaited Reality;  लिबास-ए-मजाज़  = In material robe; ज़बीं-ए-नियाज़= foreheads in supplication]

 

तरब आशना-ए-खुरूश हो , तू नवा है मरहम-ए-गोश हो 

वो सुरूद क्या के छिपा हुआ हो सुकूत-ए-पर्दा-ए-साज़ में
[ तरब  = pleasure; आशना-ए-खुरूश = friendship with tumult; नवा = sound/tune; सुरूद = melody; सुकूत = silence; पर्दा-ए-साज़ = behind the tune ]

 

तू बचा बचा के न रख इसे , तेरा आइना है वो आइना 

की शिकस्ता  हो तो अज़ीज़तर  है निगाह-ए-आइना साज़ में
[शिकस्ता = broken; अज़ीज़तर= better; निगाह-ए-आइना साज़ = in the eyes of maker of the mirror  ]

 

दम-ए-तौफ़ करमक-ए-शमा ने ये कहा के वो असर-ए-कुहन 

न तेरी हिकायत-ए-सोज़ में, न मेरी हदीस-ए-गुदाज़ में
[ दम-ए-तौफ़ = during circumbulation; करमक-ए-शमा = the moth to the fire; असर-ए-कुहन = the old effect; हिकायत-ए-सोज़  = stories of sorrows; हदीस-ए-गुदाज़ = heart melting tales ]

 

न कहीं जहाँ में अमां मिली, जो अमां मिली तो कहाँ मिली 

मेरी जुर्म-ए-खानाखाराब को , तेरे अफ़व-ए-बन्दानवाज़  में
[ अमां  = protection/security; जुर्म-ए-खानाखाराब = crime of destruction; अफ़व-ए-बन्दानवाज़ = in the grace of almighty]

 

न वो इश्क में रहीं गर्मियां, न वो हुस्न में रहीं शोखियाँ 

न वो गजनवी में तड़प रही, न वो ख़म है ज़ुल्फ़-ए-अयाज़ में 

 

जो मैं सर-बसज्दा हुआ कभी तो, ज़मीं से आने लगी सदा 

तेरा दिल तो है सनम आशना, तुझे क्या मिलेगा नमाज़ में
[सर-बसज्दा =head  in prostration; सदा = call/sound; सनम आशना = friends of idols ]

tawaaf-e-dair-o-haram kiye, kabhi suni na apne dil ke sada
tu raha hamesha saath mere , main dhonndhata raha riwaaz mein

The below mentioned translation is taken from here 

For once, O awaited Reality, reveal Yourself in a form material,
For a thousand prostrations are quivering eagerly in my submissive brow.

 

Know the pleasure of tumult: thou art a tune consort with the ear!
What is that melody worth, which hides itself in the silent chords of the harp.

 

Do not try to protect them, your mirror is the mirror
Which would be dearer in the Maker's eye if they broken are
 

During circumambulation the moth exclaimed, "Those past effects
Neither in your story of pathos, nor in my tale of love are"
 

My dark misdeeds found no refuge in the wide world
The only refuge they found was in Your Gracious Forgiveness
 

Neither love has that warmth, nor beauty has that humour
Neither that restlessness in Ghaznavi nor those curls in the hair locks of Ayaz are

 

Even as I laid down my head in prostration a cry arose from the ground:
Your heart is in materialism, no rewards for your prayers are.

 I circumbulated the temples and mosques; never did I listen to the call of heart
you were always with me; and I was searching for you in traditions.

कहाँ आये थे, कहाँ को चले

 

नीचे लिखे ग़ज़ल के अशार  पिछले नौ साल की मेरी सफ़र-ए-राह-ए-उल्फ़त के मुख्तलिफ मराहिल हैं। ये मरहले हैं मुलाकात,कशिश, इकरार,इख्तिलाफ़, इंतज़ार-ओ-सबात  और विसाल।   मेरा  हमसफ़र गए माह के २४ तारीख़  को तमाम उम्र के लिए मेरा हमसाया बन गया।  शब्-ए-शादी मैंने अपने जज़्बातों को लफ़्ज़ों में आसीर करने की  सोची पर फुर्सत जो की अब तलक  हमेशा मेरे साथ रही बेसाख्ता  मुझसे रूठ गयी।  अगरचे एक माह और तीन रोज़  की देरी हुई है  पर आज फुर्सत मेरे पास है।  गोया ऐसा मालूम होता है की ये दोनों बाहम कभी नहीं रह सकती; रश्क निहायत ही बुरी बला है। या तो फुर्सत होगी या फिर यार का साथ होगा।  

 

कहाँ आये थे , कहाँ को चले 

 तुमको देखा तो हम फ़ना  हो चले
[फ़ना  = destroy ] 

 

शब्, माह, तारे, नग्मे, अरमां 

 तुम से मिलकर सब जवां हो चले 

 

राह-ए-जिंदगानी कब कहाँ ले चले  

 असरार-ए-दिल तुमको बता तो चले
[ असरार-ए-दिल = secrets of love]

 

इख्तिलाफ़ कई रहे अपने दरमियां   

पिन्हा दिलों  को हम मिला तो चले
[इख्तिलाफ़ = difference in opinion; पिन्हा = concealed/hidden ]

बड़े नाज़ से वो मुस्कुराए है इनदिनों

अलबत्ता मुद्दा क्या है पता तो चले
[ मुद्दा = reason]
 

 मुज़्तरिब अज़ल से रहा मुन्तज़िर

 तुम आये,अब बाद-ए-सबा तो चले
[मुन्तज़िर = awaiting; बाद-ए-सबा = wind ]

'मुज़्तरिब'

मेरे जेहन में बार बार मीर तकी  मीर ' के ये शेर आते  हैं जो शायद   मेरी  ग़ज़ल के  तर्गीब  (inspiration) हैं

परस्तिश की यां तक, की ऐ बुत तुझे

नज़र में सभु के खुदा कर चले

[ परस्तिश = worship,]

 बहुत आरज़ू थी गली की तेरी
सो यां से लहू में नहा कर चले

kahann aaye the , kahan ko chale
tumko dekha to fanaa ho chale

[fanaa = destroy ]

shab, maah, taare, naghme, armaan
tum se milkar sab jawaan ho chale
 

raah-e-zindagaani kab kahan le chale
asraar-e-dil tum ko bataa to chale
[ asraar-e-dil = secrets of love]

ikhtilaaf kai rahe apne darmiyaan
pinhaa dilon ko hum mila to chale
[ikhtilaaf = difference in opinion; pinhaa = concealed/hidden ]

bade naaz se wo muskuraaye hai inn dino
albatta mudda kya hai pata to chale
[ mudda = reason]

'muztarib' azal se raha muntazir

tum aaye, ab baad-e-sabaa to chale 

[muntazir= awaiting; baad-e-sabaa = wind ]

'Muztarib'
