[ बेसबब  = without reason, रायगाँ  = fruitless/waste ]

[ 'मुज़्तरिब'  = confused/disillusioned/restless, बरमला  = openly ]

O Life! what tricks are you playing
without any reason why are you getting wasted

Why you do what I don't even think of
why are you becoming carefree and self ruled

Expending as if you want to get exhausted
without stopping, which way are you heading

My existence is bound by your existence
why are you taking advantage of this limitation

hidden in my body you are creating trouble
and I am being punished for your acts

By your deeds I am getting restless
and you sitting far, are openly mocking at me.

'Muztarib'

Zindagee! tu ye kya gul khila rahi hai
kyun tu besabab raegaan hoti jaa rahi hai
[ besabab = without reason, raegaan = fruitless/waste ]

Tu kyun wo karti hai jo main sochta nahin hoon
kyun tu beniyaaz-khudmukhtaar hue jaa rahi hai
[beniyaaz-khudmukhtaar= carefree-self governed ]

basar ho rahi ho yun ki bas guzar jaan hai
tu ye kahan musalsal badhe jaa rahi ho
[ musalsal= continuous]

Meri hasti hai tere wajuud mein mahdood
tu kyun iss giraft ka fayadaa utha rahi hai
[hasti /wajuud = existence, mahdood  = bound/limited, giraft = hold ]

Meri khad-o-khaal mein pinhaa baithee hai tu
sazaa mile mujhe, gustakhee tu kiye jaa rahi hai
[khad-o-khaal= body, pinhaa = hidden, gustakhee = intemperate/mischief]

Teri harkaton se main 'Muztarib' hua jaa raha hoon
barmalaa tu door baith kar muskuraa rahi hai
[ 'Muztarib'= confused/disillusioned/restless, barmalaa = openly ]

'Muztarib'

Tajmahal

( Sutinder Singh has beautifully  sung this song.  The link to this song is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9UlzoJMwW4. His Channel can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/bi11iards)

[मज़हर = manifestation, उल्फत = love, वादी-ए-रंगी = valley of joy/colour, अकीदत = reverent/firm belief  ]

[बज़्म-ए-शाही = royal gathering, सब्त = etched, सतवत-ए-शाही = grandness of royalty ]

[इमारत-ओ-मक़ाबिर = building and tomb, फ़सीलें = rampart, हिसार = fort,  मुतलकुल्हुकम = self governed (here proud & arrogant), अज़मत = greatness, सतूं = symbol, दामन  = cloth, दहर  = world, गुलकारी = flower & Vine patterns, अज़दाद = ancestors]

[ सन्नाई  = artistry, शक्ल ए जमील  = form of beauty, बेनाम ओ नमूद = without name and trace, कंदील = candle ]

[चमनज़ार = garden, जमना का किनारा = bank of river Yamuna, मूनक्कश = tapestry,मेहराब = arch, ताक़ = vine ]

I have attempted a rough translation of this nazm. Putting the same below:

For you, Taj might be an embodiment of love
you might be follower of this valley of colour
but my dear, please meet me elsewhere

in the gathering of royals whats the meaning of poors' presence ?
etched on the path are the signs of royal grandeur
how can the souls filled with love traverse on those ?

My Dear, behind the veil of this advertisement of love
you should have seen the signs of grandness
be fooled by the tombs of dead kings
you should have seen our dark houses

Many in the world have fallen in love
and who says that their feelings were not true
but they didn't have the means to advertise their emotions
as they were destitute like us

this building and tomb, these ramparts, this fort
are the symbols of extravagance of proud kings
on the cloak of this world are etched the flowery patterns
the colour of which has come from the blood of our ancestors

My Dear! those would also have been in love
whose artistry has given this the beautiful form
the tombs of their loves are without name and trace
and nobody ever lighted a candle on them

the garden, the banks of Jamuna, the palace
the tapestries on doors and walls, the arches, the vines
a king with the help of pelf
has mocked on the love of we poors

My dear! Please meet me elsewhere.

Putting down a rough translation to this nazm

A king, by making the beautiful Tajmahal
has given the world a symbol of love
in whose shadow ever there will be talks of love

Taj is that flame in the temple of love
the moths to which are the rich and the poor
swear by the dreams that are hidden in the marbles
that the journey of love is both easy and difficult
it has given a passion to heart and youth to the will

Taj is a living imagination of a bard
its a story that is nothing else than truth
in the basom of Taj it feels
that life is nothing else than love
Taj has given a strenght to the waves of love

This beautiful night, this fragrant moonlit weather
if permitted the heart will express its love
love makes a person a human
who will dare to say no to love
destiny has bestowed us this beautiful night
